Teresa Hewitt was born in Italy and moved to New York as a child. Teresa graduated from Traphagen School of Fashion and studied at FIT Art Students League in New York City. There she discovered her amazing talent for illustration and design. After graduating she worked as a graphic artist in design and print companies and taught fashion illustration at Traphagen.
While raising four children, Teresa kept her artistic talent current with commercial illustration work for clients including Burlington Coat Factory, Sears, Singer, Mobil Oil, American Museum of Natural History, Chase Manhattan Bank and Master Card and many other major corporations. She had been primarily painting in acrylics, but after taking a course she discovered a love for watercolor painting that she had not realized before. Since then, Teresa has become very prolific using watercolor as her medium, as well as oil and acrylic.
She has had her work on display at the Naples Central Library and the Von Liebig Art Gallery many times. She has been accepted at a variety of art shows in Naples as well, including Artcrafters in Cambier Park and the Fifth Avenue Art Fairs (Naples New Years Art Fair and Naples National Art Festival). Teresa is a member of the Naples Art Association, the United Arts Council, and Naples Artcrafters. Murals and commissioned art projects by Teresa can be seen at doctor’s offices, restaurants, private homes, and wedding venues.
